Beating the Ladykillers. Women and Smoking
The first international analysis of why women smoke and how Big Tobacco has exploited feminism to hoodwink girls and women into a deathtrap. It followed the publication, also by Bobbie Jacobson, of “The Ladykillers. Why smoking is a feminist issue” in 1981. It shows how the tobacco industry cynically promoted its products among the world’s poorest where, initially, there was no capacity to resist. It describes how this resulted in women across the world uniting in a powerful movement against smoking and creating a new way to support women's health.
It includes interviews with women from all walks of life and practical help for women to stop smoking.
The Nation's Health: A Strategy for the 1990's

It reviews progress in public health over the previous decade and identifies measures likely to be effective in promoting the public health. It outlines a national strategy for the next decade, identifying the responsibilities of government and of the national agencies as well as health and local authorities.
